The plot unfolds alternately in two worlds, in one of which Jackie is a deadly bearer of a terrible, but powerful force, and in the second, he is just a patient in a psychiatric hospital. In each of the worlds the player is convinced that it is this world that is real and effective, and the second is just a hallucination or shock. Depending on the player's choice, the ending will also change.. But it is the first world that arouses the most interest.
In it, Jackie destroys crowds of enemies using very diverse methods. One thing that is very split down the middle in regards to people liking or disliking The Darkness 2 is the visual style. It looks very different from the first game and this is because they have gone for a cell-shaded, comic book style and I for one think that it looks fantastic. Yes, it is very different from how that first game looked, but in all honesty with you, I would have much preferred that the first game looked like this rather than this one looking like the first game.
The original Darkness was praised for the voice acting and it is just as good here. The performances of the main characters, especially Jackie are amazing and it helps get you more invested in the story. The relationship between Jackie, The Darkness, and the Darkling is great and that is mainly due to how the actors portray them.
I think that The Darkness 2 is a fantastic video game. If you asked me what one I liked better, then I do feel that the first game only just edges it out as the story was a bit better and the twist with being in the war was better than the twist of the asylum.
